Your Own NASCAR Museum?

By Larry Cottril

I’m not sure where it all started.
Of course, there were always the plastic scale models from my youth, the books, the VHS tapes of races from the early ESPN days, and the old saved copies of "Winston Cup Scene" newspapers. That was all healthy, but somewheres along the way, it got a little "abnormal".

The unfinished ceiling beams of the basement seemed a logical place to hang (store) 1/64th scale die-cast replicas which were still in the package. Since I had no fine china, the china cabinet my grandmother left me seemed like a good place for the best of my "loose" cars. That bare spot on the wall to the left of the fireplace somehow was begging to get covered with something NASCAR related.

I recall the day that the "This End Up" crate-style couch and love seat got their kick-panels tattooed with WRANGLER 3 and BUD 8 logos by my soldering iron (in exquisite detail I might add).

How it got to where it now is, that’s anybody’s guess, but I know that the advent of eBaY has forever doomed me.
